The Classic Khara Bangalore Cookies are made with a family recipe and an age-old baking process. This much sought-after salty (khara) after taste is familiar to locals who frequent street-side chai (tea) shops where discussions on politics at the Vidhana Soudha are often as heated as our ovens.
The Vidhana Soudha is the largest state secretariat building in India. It was conceptualised in what is called the ‘Neo-Dravidian’ style of architecture that incorporated Indian architectural features like the cupola (dome), the chattri (domed pavilion), Dravidian iconography as well as European influences. It was inaugurated in 1956. The large dome above the porch is topped by the four-headed lion, the national emblem of India.

These classic, crisp-crumbly Butter-Salted Bangalore Cookies blend clarified butter with salt to create a long-standing local favourite. Their robust, earthy flavour has withstood the test of time, not unlike the stone Kempegowda Towers or mantapas in the city.
The Kempegowda Tower on the Lalbagh rock is one of several stone ‘mantapas’ or towers that was built in the Dravidian style of architecture during the time of the 16th century Kempegowda dynasty who founded Bengaluru. City historians say that guards were once stationed here to spot hostile movement on the horizon. Flares were then set off as warning signals for sentries in the other towers.

Finely-ground salt and powdery icing sugar come together harmoniously to give our Classic Butter-Sweet Bangalore Cookies a delicious mixed flavour. These buttery cookies are a classic accompaniment for the city’s famous ‘No. By. Two’ chai (tea) that Bengalureans often drink on a rainy afternoon after spending time at the Government Museum.
The two-storied Government Museum was initially established on Museum Road by Dr. Edward Balfour, before shifting to its current location in 1877. It was built in the European Classical style by Lt. General Sir Richard Hieram Sankey, the Chief Engineer of Mysore who also designed Cubbon Park, the High Court of Karnataka (the Attara Kacheri) and Sankey Tank. It has two exhibition floors and eighteen galleries that contain prehistoric artefacts, stone and metal sculptures, rare coins, inscriptions and paintings. It is the second oldest archaeological museum in South India.

The unusual combination of spicy-pungent ingredients in the Green Chilli and Curry Leaves Bangalore Cookies is as surprising as the mixed influences that make up the Bangalore Palace. These distinctly South Indian flavours stun the palate and leave behind an unforgettable impression.
The Bangalore Palace with its stone battlements and turrets was built in the Tudor style once prevalent in England. It was built on sprawling grounds acquired by the British tutors to the young Mysore ruler, Chamarajendra Wodeyar X, so he could receive a private education in the English style, alongside the traditional training that befitted a South Indian monarch. The palace incorporates mixed architectural and decorative influences that include Dravidian iconography as well as European ornamental styles.

The sharp taste of ginger is complemented by a dash of sweet jaggery (palm sugar), butter, caramel and cardamom to give our Ginger-Jaggery Bangalore Cookies an invigorating flavour. They offer a perfect ‘pick-me-up’ after a long day at work, an exhausting commute or standing in line to complete paperwork at Mayo Hall.
Mayo Hall was built to commemorate the ill-fated Richard Bourke, 6th Earl of Mayo, Governor-General of India who was assassinated in 1872. Work on the building was begun in 1874 and halted during the great famine of 1876-1878. It was completed in 1883. This stately European Classical building housed the Municipal Offices for the Bangalore Civil & Military Station on the ground floor while the Upper Hall that was once reserved for public meetings and exhibitions, now accommodates the Kempegowda Museum.

This elegant pairing of cashew and almond flakes comes together gently with wheat flour, salt, sugar and butter to appeal to a refined palate. The Cashew-Almond Bangalore Cookies offer a subtle feast for the senses, much like the fragile beauty and intricate design of the Glasshouse at Lalbagh.
The Lalbagh Glass House (once called the Albert Victor Conservatory) is a delicate glass and cast-iron structure that was designed along the lines of the Crystal Palace in England. It sits in the Lalbagh garden that was initially laid out by the eighteenth-century Mysore Sultanate ruler, Hyder Ali, and completed by his son, Tipu Sultan. The Glass House was manufactured at the Scottish iron foundry, Walter Macfarlane & Co., shipped from England and installed here between 1889-1890.
It is now a venue for the annual Lalbagh Flower Shows.

Wheat flour, brown sugar and a generous sprinkling of chocolate chips make our Chocolate Chip Bangalore Cookies a self-indulgent proposition that very few can refuse. Those-in-the-know will take them along while stimulating brain cells indoors at the library. Others can feast on them in Cubbon Park outside.
The State Central Library is housed in the Seshadri Memorial Hall in Cubbon Park. It was built to commemorate Dewan Sir Kumarapuram Seshadri Iyer whose statue stands outside.
It was initially conceptualised as both a public hall and library and built using elements from the European Classical style of architecture. The Mysore government donated the building to the State Library in 1914 and the library in turn, opened here on May 1st, 1917.

The Double Chocolate Bangalore Cookies are a sumptuous combination of wheat flour blended with brown sugar, condensed milk, cocoa powder and other fine ingredients. The addition of dark and white chocolate chips makes them an experience that is as overwhelming as the Attara Kacheri (now the High Court of Karnataka).
The High Court of Karnataka was once called the Public Offices or the ‘Attara Kacheri’. It was named after the Mughal style eighteen departments that were established by the 17th century Mysore ruler Chikkadevaraja Wodeyar as ‘Chavadis’ following a diplomatic mission to Delhi. This European Classical building was designed by Lt. General Sir Richard Hieram Sankey, the Chief Engineer of Mysore who also built the Government Museum and Sankey Tank. It was built between 1864 and 1868 and is located on the same axis as the Vidhana Soudha, Sir Mark Cubbon’s statue, the Bandstand and the Government Museum.
